EGERTON cruised past Denton West on Saturday to keep them at the top of the Greater Manchester Cricket League Premier Division.

With only three games remaining, the Blackburn Road outfit remain at the summit of the league table with a three point gap.

Adam Street (4-29) and Marcus Pratt (3-23) spearheaded a fine bowling attack which had Denton West bowled all out for 86.

Opener Chesney Hughes led the reply knocking 61 not out as Egerton wrapped up a nine-wicket win to put them within touching distance of the title.

Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the table, Edgworth gave themselves a glimmer of hope of survival with a two-run victory at home to Heywood.

The Bolton Road side got off to an horrendous start and found themselves posting 32-4.

But impressive tail-end batting, led by Brett Ernst (54) and Guy Haynes (45 not out), boosted the score to 179-8.

Liam Watkinson (4-32) and Josh Fallows (3-42) starred with the ball in reply as Heywood were bowled out two runs short of the target.

In the First Division, Astley and Tyldesley moved out of the drop zone after a crucial win away at Roe Green.

Jordan O'Malley took 3-30 and skipper Jimmy Cutt took 3-55 as Roe Green achieved 166-9 in their 49 overs.

Joel Brockley inspired the reply, hitting 109 from 95 balls, which included 10 fours and seven sixes.

Alex Heaton also added 45 not out as the comeback was completed with eight wickets to spare.
