ADLINGTON have signed Majid Majeed as professional for the ninth consecutive season.

Majeed is the longest serving pro at one club in the Bolton League.

Adlington will play in the second division of the league when it splits from one division of 21 clubs to two of 10 next season.

Club chairman Nick Chamberlain said playing in the second tier is not what Majeed wants to do but his loyalty to the club was stronger than his desire to leave for higher level cricket.

"We're very pleased Majid has agreed to sign for us again," said Chamberlain.

"He's a good player and we do know he has had other offers, but by signing for us again it shows his loyalty to the club.

"He's disappointed that we are not going to finish in the top 10 and be in the top division next year but he is happy to put his faith in us and he is prepared to battle for another year to try to help us win promotion.

"We have not had a bad season and haven't missed out on a top-10 place by much. We would hope to do a lot better next year and be among the teams going for promotion."
