ATHERTON ended their West Lancashire League Division Two season unbeaten with back-to-back wins in their final games.

First up was Little Hulton when, batting first, Atherton totalled 209 all out with Scott Ryan (77) and Connor Gilluley (62) scoring highly. Billy Schofield picked up 3-8 for the visitors.

In reply, Little Hulton collapsed to 100 all out. Daniel Ashton (3-9) and James Hatton (2-9) did most of the damage.

The following day, Atherton played host to Hindley St Peters.

Hindley batted first and were dismissed for just 70 with Ashton picking up 3-10.

Matthew Hardman was the only Hindley batsman to offer any resistance with 34.

Atherton made short work of their target, losing just three wickets, Mushtaq Shaikh claiming all three wickets for the visitors.

In Division One at St James Street, Daisy Hill suffered a shock defeat by 10 runs to an under-strength Sutton side.

Batting first the visitors scored 169-8 off their 40 overs, Liam Dodd scoring 57 and Joe Leeming picked up 3-41 for Daisy Hill.

In reply, Daisy Hill started well and looked on course for victory with James Mann scoring 46 not out and Mayank Patel 34.

But the middle order failed to capitalise on the good start as they finished on 159-7.

The title is still far from decided with Daisy Hill travelling to New Longton this Sunday, still with a chance of finishing top.

But it is now out of their hands with Burscough just requiring victory in their final game on September 18 against Preston.
