HORWICH RMI clinched the Bolton League Second XI title and with it the double with last weekend's emphatic win against Lostock.

After a delayed start reduced the game to 30 overs a side RMI soon made short work of the Lostock batting as they shot them out for just 46. Neil Flanagan's unbeaten 25 was the only resistance to the RMI bowling, led by Zaid Patel's 3-10. Despite Tom Mills grabbing a couple of early wickets they stormed home, David Hunt leading the way with an unbeaten 20.

Bradshaw secured the runners-up spot with a dominant display against Little Lever at The Rigbys. Batting first they rattled up an impressive 308-2 thanks in the main to a superb partnership of 252 between Jordan Evans (129) and Marcus Haslam, who was undefeated on 115. Little Lever's run chase never really got going and they were always struggling as Thomas de Gelder took 5-12 with Ian Ross taking 3-20 and they could only muster 55 in reply, David Rushton with 19 playing pretty much a lone hand for Lever.

Westhoughton claimed third spot in the table with a 51-run win over neighbours Daisy Hill at St James Street. Batting first they were restricted to 157 all out despite 36 from Glen Bullock, James Burrow (28) and Simon Ashcroft (21) as Chris Charters grabbed 5-40 and Suryakant Varsani 3-26. The home side also struggled as Ashcroft completed a good day with 4-19. He was well supported by Chris Leyland's 3-40 and TJ Pindoria (3-28) as they were restricted to 106 in reply.

Walkden ended their season with a hard fought three-wicket win at Adlington. The home side batted first and with Liam Kane making 24 they got off to a steady start. However, wickets started to tumble as Nigel Partington worked his way through the top order to take 5-25 and Adlington slipped to 84 all out. Any thoughts of a comfortable win were soon dispelled as Zak Green's 3-24 helped reduce them to 32-4, but they rallied and got home with three wickets to spare.

Eagley won another low-scoring encounter as they defeated Farnworth at Bridgeman Park by six wickets. The home side had little answer to a superb spell of 7-20 in five overs by Mick Craig which helped bowl them out for just 64. Charlie McLellan with 17 provided the only real resistance. Eagley too lost early wickets but Daniel Cane with 31 ensured that the bowlers' hard work wasn't in vain.

Heaton completed their season with a five-wicket win at Golborne where they chased down their target of 138 with eight overs to spare. Mohammed Kamel (3-28) had got Heaton in some trouble at 24-3 but Andy Cumberbatch and Matthew Ball with 26 each, plus an unbeaten 40 from Kishan Patel, saw their side home. It was a good all-round performance from Patel, who had taken 3-34 in Golborne's total of 137-9.

Farnworth Social Circle ensured that Standish's last game in the league ended in disappointment with a 29-run win at Green Lane. Batting first the visitors racked up 180-9, thanks mainly to Matthew Knight (51), Stephen French (38) and Liam Ashworth with an unbeaten 36 as Daniel Harrison toiled hard to keep them in check by taking 5-50.

Standish made a spirited reply, led by Paul Hassan's unbeaten 61 and Stephen Critchley with 25, but in the end the target proved just too many. Vitesh Chhana with 4-16 was the pick of the Social bowling attack.

Astley Bridge guaranteed a top division slot for next year with a five-wicket win at Darcy Lever. The home side batted first and Wayne Hopkinson did his best to give them a platform with 25, but the rest of the batting struggled against the bowling of Paris Patel (4-25) and Adam Patel (3-34) and subsided to 97 all out. Astley Bridge also found it hard going, losing five wickets but a vital 56 from Ady Cooper (the only double-figure score) ensured his bowlers' efforts weren't wasted.

Little Hulton ended their season on a high with a 29-run win over Blackrod but just failed to secure a top-10 place for next season, finishing 11th.

Batting first, they were pegged back by some good bowling from Charlie Fletcher (4-20) and Will Powell (4-50) but thanks to 24 each from Neil Jarvis and Rick McIntyre, and 23 from Dave Walker, they managed 111 all out. Blackrod in turn also struggled, particularly against Jarvis who completed a good personal day with 6-31, and could only manage 82 in reply. Fletcher with 18 top scored but in truth Blackrod never really threatened.

With the Kearsley v Atherton game abandoned, this left next season's line-up with Division One containing Horwich RMI, Bradshaw, Westhoughton, Farnworth Social Circle, Daisy Hill, Heaton, Farnworth, Astley Bridge, Blackrod and Kearsley. The remaining clubs will play in Division Two.
