EGERTON have signed Lancashire spin bowler Matt Parkinson for next season.

The Greater Manchester League champions have pulled off a top signing in Boltonian Parkinson who took 10 wickets in four championship matches for the Red Rose county this season.

Egerton, who made it two titles in two seasons after winning the Bolton League last year, have a big hole to fill with key fast bowler Adam Street set to move to Australia.

And the Bolton club have pulled off a coup by landing 20-year-old Parkinson who will be going on the England Lions tour to Dubai this winter.

The Markland Hill man, who went to Bolton School and Canon Slade sixth form and has not signed for Egerton as pro, said: “I’ve played at Urmston in the Cheshire League for the last five years and we’re a yo-yo club between the Premier League and Division One.

“We got relegated this year and I’ve played in Division One before and don’t want to play in it again at this stage of my career.

“Egerton is a good club for me. I’ve got good memories of playing there, I know some of the people and it’s close to my home.”
