HORWICH skipper Phil Ingram hit a second half-century in 48 hours to help his side into the next round of the Lancashire Knockout at Bradshaw's expense on Sunday.

Ingram hit nine fours and a six in his knock of 55 as Horwich scored 146-3 to surpass Bradshaw's 143-9.

Before he turned his hand to the bat, Ingram, who scored 56 in an eight-wicket Bolton League triumph against Kearsley the day before, was the pick of the Horwich bowlers as he took 3-22.

In the reply, Ingram was ably supported by Tom Billington (47 not out) as Horwich made it through to the next round next month.

Elsewhere, Farnworth lost to Denton West in a repeat of last year's controversial final.

Batting first, Nakash Qamar top scored with 64no as the Lavender Road side reached 199-7 from their 45 overs with Semila Seyibokwe (2-50) returning the best bowling figures.

In reply, opener Hamish Dunlop hit an unbeaten 96 for the holders to set them on their way to 202-6, Dan Higham and Ross Sutton taking two wickets apiece but Farnworth were unable to gain revenge for last year's final defeat at Middleton Cricket Club.

It was a comfortable day for Farnworth Social Circle as they set Glodwick an imposing target having scored 236, Australian Jake Scicluna top scoring with 69.

Glodwick struggled in reply and were skittled out for just 67 as Social Circle won by 169 runs, Jay Chhana taking 4-10 and Chris Barrow completing a successful weekend with 3-2 from his three overs.

Lostock also progressed after an 11-run win against Clifton.

Matthew Leach (35) and Nick Jeffs (27) were the main runs scorers for Lostock as they reached 166-8 from their allotted overs, with Liam hurt (4-10) the pick of the Clifton bowlers.

In reply, Adam Holt (56) hit a half century but had little support as the visitors were all out for 155, Leach capping a fine day personally with 5-37 with the ball.

Egerton made it through to the last 32 with a 42-run victory against Great Eccleston seconds.

Batting first after breaking their Greater Manchester Cricket League duck the previous day, Mahala Udawatta was the star man with an unbeaten 149 as they totalled 271-4, Mohamed Nadeem taking two wickets for Eccleston.

Their reply also included a sizeable innings of 80 from Mohammed Fazil but three wickets for Adam Patel and two apiece for Ben Finch and Amal Dalugoda restricted them to 229-9 as Egerton progressed.

Westhoughton completed the Bolton representation in the next round with a two-wicket victory against Flixton.

The Howfeners fielded first and saw Usman Tariq (52) hit a half-century for Flixton as they reached 164-8, Rob Brown (4-26) the pick of the bowling for Westhoughton.

The reply saw Qaiser Abbas (56) and Mark Atherton (59) both chalk up fifties as Westhoughton reached 166-8.

Meanwhile, Walkden lost by eight wickets against Rochdale after being bowled out for just 88, Dale reaching 92-2 to progress.

Kearsley also exited the competition with a seven-wicket loss against Clitheroe.

Kearsley made 165 in their innings but Clitheroe reached their target for the loss of just three wickets.

In the last 32 ties, on Sunday, June 11, Horwich will face Vertex, Egerton take on Todmorden, Farnworth Social Circle are up against Lowerhouse, while Rochdale play Westhoughton and Lostock visit Leyland
