AT the halfway point in the group matches, Golborne remain top of the West group with three wins out of three.

Daisy Hill set a stiff target of 161, thanks to 66 from Adnan Raees, 38 from Stephen Hodgkinson and 36 from Imtiaz Cheema.

Jake Waterworth and Joe Peacock each took three expensive wickets.

Jake Waterworth scored 55 and Tim Halliday 36 to set Golborne on the way, but it was an explosive 48 from just 20 balls by Tom Pantak who gave his team victory with five deliveries still left.

Adeel Baig and David Tantsis-Hall began the Atherton innings with a half-century opening partnership, but the innings then subsided to 106-6, which Westhoughton overtook for the loss of just one wicket, Danny Naylor and Qaiser Abbas both hitting 41.

Kearsley lead the East group with three wins from three games. Andy Patel and Freddie Oliver put on 66 as Darcy Lever reached 95-5 in a match reduced to 15 overs.

Grant Cordin with 55 and Darren Whittle with 37 then steered Kearsley to victory without loss.

In the other East match, Little Lever pro Adil Nisar took a remarkable 4-5 from his four overs as Tonge were dismissed for 60. Andy Worden chipped in with 3-16.

This score was overtaken for the loss of three Little Lever wickets.

In the North West group there was a tense last-over finish at Adlington. Batting first, Lostock reached 110-8 despite three run-outs.

Adlington began badly, losing four wickets for 15 runs, but 40 from Tom Shovelton took them to victory in spite of 4-16 for Robbie Holgate.

Horwich hit 161-7, with Brett Pelser contributing 43 and Fazil Hassan 40 from 19 deliveries.

Blackrod were then dismissed more than 100 runs short of the target as Lewis Haydock took 3-13.

In the South section, Farnworth Social Circle elected to play two matches on Sunday, with mixed fortunes.

In the morning against neighbours Farnworth they recorded 172-5 before a handful of spectators with major contributions from Jake Scicluna (64) and Ryan Ayres (33).

Farnworth were then dismissed for 134 with Tim Barrow and Ryan Ayres both taking three wickets.

By the afternoon, with the weather not as bad as forecast, there were now around 150 people on the ground.

Tayler Heyes gave Walkden the ideal start with 70 from 42 balls, including five sixes, in a century opening partnership with Adam Newton.

Just when it seemed Chris Taylor’s three wickets had pulled Circle back into the game Jonathan Fowler hit a rapid 32 to take his team to 189-6.

Circle were never in a position to make a serious challenge and finished on 150-8.

Taylor scored 31 not out to complete a good all-round performance and Jake O’Byrne hit 37.
