ALL three Bolton clubs claimed victory in the Greater Manchester Cricket League on Saturday.

Clyde Fortuin showed he has more than one string to his bow after impressing with both the bat and ball as Edgworth beat Denton in Division One.

The South African, who is always so potent with the bat, turned his hand to the ball this weekend and bowled 4-27 in eight overs.

Liam Watkinson also took 4-49 and wicketkeeper Josh McGreavy took six catches as Denton were bowled out for 203.

Edgworth’s reply was going well as Fortuin took his seasonal tally up to 770 runs with a knock of 65 not out and Watkinson also scored 54no, but then the rain fell.

The match was unable to be restarted so the Barlows Ground outfit were awarded the win by the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Egerton recovered from last weekend’s defeat to Flixton by narrowly beating Walshaw in the Premier Division.

Batting first, the Blackburn Road side had Mahela Udawatte (65) and skipper Will Halton (13) to thank for reaching a score of 113 before they were bowled out.

Liam Riley caused most of the damage with the ball, taking 4-37.

And in the second innings Walshaw began to take control, hitting 46 runs before the fall of the first wicket – Saif Bhojani dismissed for 18.

Fellow opener Jack McClung stuck around long enough to score 34 but then the collapse started and Walshaw were bowled out for 104 – Matt Parkinson (4-24) and Amal Dalugoda (3-27) impressing with the ball.

Astley and Tyldesley climbed above early pace-setters Thornham to the summit of the Division Two table with victory over their title rivals.

A&T skipper Jimmy Cutt (3-28) spearheaded a bowling attack which had Thornham dismissed for 133. Chris Ware and Paul Bennett also took two wickets apiece.

Nathan McDonnell (44no) and David Harrison (33no) led the reply which saw the chase completed with seven wickets to spare.
