BOLTON NEWS FANTASY CRICKET: Report, tables and team of the week from round eight

As the season progresses the contestants will find it harder to climb the table in leaps and bounds, but few will plummet significantly either.

One important change in week eight is the rise of David Morris to the top of the table, overtaking his former club Horwich.

Three of the Association Division professionals – Tikaksha Malshan (Tonge), Tush De Zoyza (Blackrod) and Adeel Baig – now have more than 100 points for the season, with another, Adlington's Majid Majeed, just 0.09 of a point off his century.

There is then an 18-point gap to the leading amateur, Ryan Ayres, of Farnworth Social Circle.

In the team of the week, De Zoyza has twice as many points as the leading amateur, Liam Bones of Horwich.

Several members of the team, including Ayres, Bones, Oliver Newby (Westhoughton), and Dave Mather (Kearsley) have now made multiple appearances.

All 104 contestants have picked teams of 11 players from the 20 sides in the Bolton League’s two divisions as they chase the £400 prize on offer to the winner which is provided by competition sponsor Anthony Axford timber merchants of Farnworth.

Points are awarded to the players depending on how well they perform in the 18 league games, and the winning entrant will be the one who amasses the most points throughout the season.

The competition is based on the MVP (Most Valuable Player) statistics from the electronic scoring system CricHQ.

Entrants have selected five players from the Premier Division and five from the Association Division plus one professional from either division.

The fun game runs throughout the Bolton League season and every Thursday an updated table will appear in The Bolton News and on our website.
