HORWICH finished top of the table at the end of the group stage of the Bolton University Under-13s Indoor Competition on Sunday.

They edged out Kearsley due to having a better average after both teams won all three of their games.

The top two will meet in the final this Sunday on the final day of this year's indoor competitions which have been going on for the last 11 weeks, four weeks for each of three different age groups.

Horwich beat Bradshaw, who finished fifth, in Sunday's action at Smithills Sports Centre, their 264-3 bettering the Rigbys boys' 237-9.

Kearsley's latest win was more conclusive against sixth-placed Roe Green, the high-flyers' total of 276-2 far outstripping the Worsley side's 221-6.

Egerton (279-4) finished third in the table with a comprehensive victory over Blackrod (231-2), and fourth-placed Heaton's 271-2 was too good for Eagley (235-3) who finished bottom.

All this year's tournaments have been held at Smithills Sports Centre, organised by the Bolton Cricket Development Group, sponsored by the University of Bolton and officiated by Bolton Cricket League umpires.

The junior competition has been in existence for several years but was previously only played at u11s.

Organisers have extended the competition this year by adding u9s and u13s events.
