PRIDE of place in the Bolton League second team competition last weekend went to Lostock's Danny Cockton who hit a magnificent unbeaten 206 to help his side to a 67-run victory over Daisy Hill in a run fest at St James Street.

His innings was all the more impressive given that only two of his fellow batsmen reached double figures, with 14 being the next highest score as Nathan Blair took 4-58.

Daisy Hill had a good go at chasing down their target of 281, particularly in the middle order where Chris Charters (49), Darren Sale (43) and Adam Irish (32) scored well, but with the bowlers sharing out the wickets they were all out for 213.

Eagley maintained their place at the top of the table as they defeated Atherton by 120 runs at home.

Batting first, Tom Mitchell with 92 and David Shuttleworth (66) added 112 for the third wicket to set them on the way to a total of 246-7, despite David Baines taking 4-30. Despite Matt Lilley making 40 and Greg Greenhough 35, Atherton could only post 126 in reply with Michael Craig taking 4-26.

Little Lever were also emphatic winners as they crushed Blackrod by 118 runs at Vicarage Road.

Blackrod simply had no answer to the bowling of Don Heyes who took 6-19 to help bowl them out for just 81, with Stephen Glover and Matt Baty providing much resistance. Bob Waller (50) and Adam Clark (42) had earlier helped Little Lever to a total of 199, with Tony Tipping 4-33 and Will Powell 3-26 bowling well for Blackrod.

Adlington battled to a 30-run victory over Golborne at Simpsons Fields despite being bowled out for just 86 themselves.

Golborne's batsmen had no answer to the bowling of Zak Green (5-22) and Andrew Leyland (4-16) and slumped to a meagre 56 in reply.

Elliot Forrest provided the bulk of Adlington's total with a fine 44 as Ian Anders bowled a great spell to take 4-13 in his 12 overs.

The other game in this section was also a low-scoring affair with Walkden securing a five-wicket victory over Tonge at Castle Hill.

Harry Morgan with 4-7 undermined the Tonge batting with only Corey Schofield (22) making much impact in a total of just 67.

Walkden did not have things all their own way though, losing five wickets in passing their target, Kashiup Lalji leading the way with 26.

Farnworth Social Circle continue to set a hot pace at the top of the Premier Division with their latest victory coming by a margin of eight wickets over Darcy Lever.

Having bowled out Darcy for 149, an unbroken partnership between Stephen French (50 not out) and Michael Daley (38 not out) took them comfortably to their target.

Bilal Khan (67) and Mohammed Hussain (51) had looked like setting a much stiffer target but the rest of the batting struggled against the bowling of Jamie Bohannon (5-44) and Simon Harrison 3-46.

Astley Bridge sit second courtesy of an emphatic 10 wicket victory over bottom of the table Heaton. Heaton went in first and struggled to reach 115 all out with only Mark Greenhalgh (39) and Louis Greenhalgh (25) making much progress against the bowling of Luke Wainman (4-21) and Paresh Patel (3-23).

An unbroken first-wicket stand of 116 between Ady Cooper (55no) and James Cooper (45no) saw Bridge home with 21 overs to spare.

Bradshaw lie third as they enjoyed a comprehensive win, beating Farnworth by nine wickets at The Rigbys.

Jamie Legg with 4-14 and George Booth (3-31) put the skids under the Farnworth innings as only Aiden Constantine (25) and Victor Walcott (21) produced much with the bat in a total of 116.

Bradshaw cantered to a nine-wicket win thanks to an opening stand of 102 between Robert Hardman (61) and Cian Dickinson (40no).

Horwich RMI and Little Hulton fought out a close game at the Recreation Ground before RMI eventually came out on top by 20 runs.

Zac Hollis led the way for RMI with 51, and with Adam Knowles, Andy Hancock and Connor Dalton all making scores in the 20s they reached 196-8, with Darren Mullineaux taking 3-34.

Billy Schofield led the Little Hulton reply with a fine unbeaten 68, helped by 29 from Shaun Lomas and 21 from Brian Kelly, but in the end they fell just short on 176 all out as Knowles completed a good day taking 4-37.

Kearsley and Westhoughton had an even closer game with just nine runs being the winning margin for the Springfield Road side.

Westhoughton made a really good fist of chasing 191, thanks in the main to Arun Pindoria's 65 and James Burrow's 35, but 4-62 from Abishek Kariguda and 3-62 from Russell Jamieson helped bowl them out just short on 181.

Kearsley's innings had been a tale of two halves with Peter Morris (64) dominating the early innings and then Jamieson providing a late flourish with 50 not out to take them to 190-8 as the bowlers spread out the wickets between them.
