AFTER an almost complete washout on May 25, the prospects of some T20 action were looking better last Friday.

However, localised flooding in the north of the town saw Tonge’s home game with Farnworth Social Circle end early.

The visitors had made 103-9, 38 of which were scored by Jake O’Byrne, with Alex Rodzoch taking 4-15. Social Circle took the points on the toss of a coin.

Elsewhere in the PA Sports T20 sponsored by Dixon Air Conditioning competition there were few problems with the weather.

In the North West group 80 from Lostock pro Bradley Williams and 34 from Dave Flanagan out of their 177-8, was comfortably too many for Blackrod, who ended their reply on 109-7.

Sajawal Khan made 63 in Adlington’s 144-6 against Horwich, with four wicketkeeping victims for Marcus Haydock. Despite 30 from Brett Pelser, Horwich were in trouble at 57-6 but an unbeaten half-century from Tom Billington steered them to victory.

In the West, a 141-run partnership between Babar Aghar (101) and Asif Fazal (41) helped Daisy Hill to reach 174-5 against Golborne, who responded with 103, former Daisy professional Adnan Raees top-scoring with 33, while there were three wickets apiece for Stephen Hodgkinson and Sam Pendlebury.

Mikey King, Matthew Morris, Qaiser Abbas and Sean Dunning all exceeded 30 in Westhoughton’s 179-6, with Mohammed Waqas taking three wickets for Little Hulton.

Despite being well ahead of the run rate at the halfway stage, thanks to Suleman Muhammed’s 47 and 37 from Ammar Baig, Little Hulton fell 19 runs short.

Kearsley recorded 185-6 in their South group match against Atherton, Cameron Murray leading the way with 73, supported by Imran Khalid (43) and Jack Berry (30).

Harry Allenby was the top bowler with three wickets.

He then proceeded to hit 54 and, with Rizwan Hussain smashing a century, Atherton won the game with 14 balls to spare.

Walkden made a more-than-useful 163-8 against Little Lever, despite Curtis Anderton’s four wickets in four balls, with Tiarman Hamil unbeaten on 42 and Nick Stobart scoring 33. Dane Hargreaves then led the response with 88 as Little Lever won by four wickets.

On Tuesday Luke Wainman rescued Astley Bridge from 51-8 in their match against Eagley, scoring 30 in two partnerships to almost double the total.

Mikey Craig was the leading bowler with 3-20.

Eagley passed the total with Louis Seigne batting through for 33 not out.

Ross Sutton hit 64, Matthew Hicks 36 and Imran Mirza 38 as Farnworth scored 225-4 against Tonge.

Professional Tilaksha Malshan helped Tonge with his contribution of 65 but they could only muster 148.
