Lancashire will play Somerset at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the Twenty20 Cup in the week beginning July 27.
The Lightning were given the news after Sunday's impressive nine-wicket win over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, in which Steven Croft and VVS Laxman both starred in the successful run chase.
The pair shared a club-record partnership of 162 to complete their eighth win in the North Division with 12 balls to spare. Croft finished unbeaten on 83 off 47 balls, while Laxman was 78 not out off 53.
Lancashire’s side was much changed after ensuring qualification and their place at the top of the division on Thursday. Mal Loye, Kyle Hogg and Stephen Mullaney came in for Andrew Flintoff, Glen Chapple and Francois du Plessis. Former Bolton League and Association players Sajid Mahmood and Mullaney, playing his first game of the season, returned 2-26 and 1-21 as the hosts posted 173-7. Australian David Hussey entertained with 55 off 32 balls, while Samit Patel hit 37 off 28 balls.
Paul Horton failed in his early attempt to flick Darren Pattinson over fine leg before Croft and Laxman cut loose. Croft led the way with a number of hefty blows to and over the boundary rope, and reached his 50 off just 31 balls. He hit nine fours and three sixes in all. Laxman was equally dominant, blasting eight fours and two sixes.
