Khan comes back to haunt Standish

BAZID Khan is back in business after playing for Pakistan in the recent one-day internationals.

The 26-year-old missed Spring View's opening match of the season because he was playing his second and final game for his country in their five-match series against Bangladesh.

But he returned in time to dominate Saturday's game against the Standish side he was pro with last season.

He took 3-33 as the home side were all out for 122 and then hit 65 as View won it with seven wickets remaining.

Standish's Brett Collins top scored with 72 while Iain Critchley virtually matched team-mate Khan's bowling figures with 3-34.

View, Little Hulton, Daisy Hill and Walshaw are on maximum points after two games.

Little Hulton's deputy pro, Usman Tariq, saw off Golborne's challenge when his 6-30 kept their reply down to 96.

Little Hulton shared the runs in their 161, Mark Penny top scoring with 33.

Daisy Hill's Abdul Rehman took out Flixton's middle order with a devastating spell of bowling which saw him finish with 4-11 from five overs.

Robert Clews hit 61 as the Association new boys were all out for 122, a target Daisy passed with three wickets and 14 overs remaining despite Keith Wellings' fine efforts with the ball which saw him finish with 4-31.

Walshaw captain Rob Faulkner secured Walshaw's second successive win with 6-46 as Astley and Tyldesley replied to the home side's 153 with 85, deputy pro Karl Brown scoring 42.

Atherton and Darcy Lever have one win each after Atherton's resounding eight-wicket victory.

Deputy pro Majid Majid inspired the win with 6-32 as Darcy were all out for 123, David Baines taking the other four wickets.

It's looking like being a long, hard season ahead for Blackrod who suffered their second heavy defeat after losing almost half a team of first-team players in the summer.

Edgworth old boy Andy McIlroy, who has returned to the club after a 20-year absence, was tight and effective as he took 3-14 off 17.3 overs and pro Tahir Maqsood took 4-30.

Edgworth wrapped up the win with six wickets and nearly 18 overs to spare.

Adlington also suffered their second defeat, losing by four wickets at Elton.

Ben King went in at number six for Adlington and top scored with 46 of his side's 88 from 40 overs.
