Durham teach Bolton a lesson

University of Durham II 2 Bolton Mets 0

BOLTON returned from the North-east empty-handed after a tough battle against Durham in the snow.

The visitors got off to a nightmare start when centre-back Anthony Davies broke a finger in a tackle. However, the foul went against him, and Durham to the lead from a penalty corner.

Both sides struggled to keep the ball in the second half, and both squandered a number of chances.

Woods and Flanagan had the best chances for Bolton.

It was while they were pressing for a late equaliser that Bolton conceded a second.

Overstretched at the back, gaps appeared in the Bolton defence and, with just a couple of minutes to go, a neat cross from the Durham winger enabled the centre-forward to tap home for an easy finish.

The Mets second team were beaten 3-2 by Lancaster University.

Andy Hill pulled one back after the visitors had gone 2-0 down in the first half.

Lancaster restored their two-goal advantage before Hemel Masiura pulled one back with five minutes to go with a fantastic strike from the edge of the area.
