Sorry Bolton suffer a mauling

Bolton's first team were well and truly hammered in the North-east after putting in their worst performance of the season, losing 11-2 to Stockton.

The game was beyond Bolton by half time, but they managed to score two second-half goals.

Skipper Martin Luke applied a deft finishing touch to a penalty corner strike from Andy Bull to get his first of the season, and then Bull managed to score himself with one of the goals of the season.

Bull smashed the ball home with a reverse stick strike from an impossible angle, sending the defenders ducking for cover and giving the keeper no chance.

The result leaves Bolton in a dangerous position, just above the relegation zone, with a real fight on their hands for the rest of the season.

The second team beat league leaders Tameside 3-0 after a dominant performance.

Bolton were held to a goalless first half, but stepped up a gear and the forward line of Fiddler, Davies and Rimmer proved far too strong for a tired looking Tameside defence.

The pressure soon paid off when Fiddler smashed home a penalty corner.

Bolton always looked like scoring more goals, and did so when great work from Fiddler found Rob Davies, who tapped home from close range.

The Bolton Badgers beat their Blackpool counterparts 3-2 in a close encounter.

Pressuring the Blackpool goal from the off, they got an early reward when captain Oliver Hannam, who had only been on the pitch for two minutes, played the ball into the D from the left wing for Samuel Mortimer to time his hit with perfection and open the scoring.

Blackpool equalised, before Marcus Star put Bolton back into the lead after good work by Mortimer.

Hannam looked to have put the result beyond doubt, but Blackpool scored again to set up a frantic finale.

The ladies team were beaten 2-0 by Nelson, and will host bottom of the table Poynton this weekend.
