HOCKEY: Bolton's survival hopes were given a massive boost by achieving their second successive league victory on their longest away trip of the season.
With the prospect of a rather long drive, Bolton knew it was going to be a tough day and one in which they didn't want to come home empty handed against a side that sat just below them in the league table.
So spirits were lifted as from the first whistle as Bolton were by far the better side and enjoyed a comfortable half of hockey. All departments were working well together but it was in midfield that the damage was done, and the home side struggled to pick up what seemed to be an extra man every time Bolton took possession.

The travelling side managed to create a few good chances but again failed to convert and fell back on their talisman Andy Bull to put away two penalty corners to give them a two-goal lead.
Unfortunately, Bolton took their foot off the gas and allowed the home side to pull one back before half time after a rare lapse in the defence's concentration.
The second half was a nervy affair, and to Bolton's delight, it didn't produce any goals, thanks to a strong defence who had to step up their game and did so, backed up by man-of-the-match goalkeeper Paul Neville.
A great win for Bolton, who picked up an essential three points by completing the season's first double over their opponents.
