Bolton notched up their third straight successive victory by coming out on top in a thrilling 5-4 match against York who were in the top four of the league at the start of the day.
The visitors had managed to only scrape a 1-0 victory against Bolton in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, and looked like they arrived expecting a result on the day.
The match was a hard-fought affair and neither team managed to show any real quality but it certainly provided entertainment through the sharing of nine goals and by how the momentum kept swinging between the two sides.

Bolton's scoring was opened by John Woods, who used a typical mazy run to open up enough space for him to fire home from distance leaving the keeper flat footed. Then Chris Aitken added a second when he connected well with a shot from a similar position, and Andy Bull put away the Bolton third with a penalty corner just before half-time.
The visitors had managed to grab three of their own in between the home side's goals, to leave the scoreline poised at 3-3 at half time.
As the players tried to cool down in the heat at half time, the home side knew the second half would be a battle and they were to be proved correct.
Bolton's fourth was a scrappy goal and the scorer was unclear - however Aitken shouted the loudest of all the Bolton players and so the goal was awarded to him.
York then equalised again and set up a tense last 10 minutes but it was Bolton's lucky day as they were awarded a penalty flick with five minutes to play on the clock. Up stepped Andy Bull to put away the flick and win the match.
The Badgers were back on the road again on Saturday, travelling to Crosby to play Northern HC, where they drew 3-3.
Northern opened the scoring but Bolton went ahead through Tom White and Luke van Bentum.
The Northern keeper got his stick to a ball but was unable to stop it from crossing the line; however the umpire ruled no goal.
Controversy at the other end followed as the Bolton keeper was deemed to use the back of his stick and Northern converted the resulting penalty stroke.
Bolton confidently started the second half, although an early goal put Northern back in front.
The team changes at half time paid off late in the half and from a deflected shot (similar to the one in the first half) by White elevelled the score.
