Mantos show steel to claim away day point

Glossop 2 Bolton Mantos 2nd 2

HOCKEY: Bolton twice came from behind to take a point against Glossop.

The team - a mix of experienced heads and improving youngsters - recovered from going a goal down early on to equalise through Hannah Mather.

Glossop again went in front with a goal after the restart, but after a succession of chances, Louise Heaney finally put her side back on level terms again, drilling the ball in from the right side of the scoring circle.

Bolton hung on after some later pressure to take a share of the spoils.

The next day, spectators were treated to a feast of goals as Bolton drew 4-4 at home to Didsbury Northern 2nds.

Sue Booth cancelled out Didsbury's early opener before the home side had two goals disallowed.

Northern took full advantage and lead 3-1 at the turnaround before Julie Bluer scored twice, either side of a fourth for the visitors.

Bolton had a third goal ruled out, however, in the dying minutes, Sarah Grange popped up for the eighth goal of the game to rescue a point.
