THE first week of the Farnworth Winter Rounders League produced a result with just one run separating the teams and now the second week has produced another.

Based on summer league positions, Applejax could be expected to beat Blades Barbers, but with changes in personnel and each player having to bowl three good balls and field in every position in rotation, the summer form is really meaningless. In the event, Applejax did win, but only by one run at 136-135.

Again, the "form book" would have made Little Lever AFC strong favourites against Wally's Eleven, but Wally's put up an excellent show and were unfortunate to lose by three runs after leading by nine on the first innings.

BYP Ladies again had mixed fortunes as their A team recorded a resounding win over Little Lever CC, but the B were out-classed by the Grapes who won by 58 to soften the blow of losing their opening match by one run.

Capital showed remarkable consistency when they scored 89 in each innings for a comfortable 32-run win over Elton Vale.

Adlington remain top of the table (alphabetically) as one of the five teams with two wins from two starts. Their opponents on Sunday were Dave's Mini Bus who are new to this style of competition, but who are improving and hoping to make their mark in the League.

RESULTS: The Grapes 185 BYP Ladies B 127; Elton Vale 146 Capital 178; Applejax 136 Blades Barbers 135; Little Lever AFC 149 Wally's Eleven 146; BYP Ladies A 178 Little Lever CC 98; Adlington 154 Dave's Minibus 135.
