THE Farnworth Winter League produced single run wins in each of the first two weeks and, on Sunday, two teams drew.

BYP Ladies B and Daves Minibus were both without a win from their first two games, but have eased themselves off the bottom of the table by taking one point each from their 146-146 draw.

Wallys Eleven remain without a point after predictably losing to pace-setters BYP Ladies A who are one of three team still unbeaten.

Adlington remain top on alphabetical order, but their winning margin over Little Lever CC was just 15 runs.

Adlington took a lead of 80-60 in the first innings, but faltered in the second inning as they were all out with one ball remaining.

Applejax share the top spot after inflicting a first defeat on Capital.

Fortunately for the winners, they built a 40-run lead in the first innings, dismissing Capital with five balls to spare, but Capital hit back in the second innings to reduce the deficit to 21.

Applejax will need to be at their best next week when they face The Grapes, who beat Elton Vale 166-130.

Blades Barbers recorded their first victory of the season as they put on a competent performance, winning both innings, to beat Little Lever AFC by 36 runs.

Next Sunday may prove a stiffer test as they face the unbeaten BYP Ladies A. The Eagley League has attracted two new teams this week, Craven and Divas.

Craven lost narrowly (122-131) to CBA XI and Divas, drawn from the Darcy Mums and Young Darcy teams which play at Halliwell last season, beat Redgate by just 12.

Darcy teams have always had a reputation of being slow starters and Sundays match confirm that.

Although they scored 85 runs in their first innings, they trailed to Redgate by 22, but they woke up in the second innings to secure the win.

Although the Eagley League only plays on alternate weeks, Craven and Divas will play next week to catch up after not playing in the opening week.

The other matches were not as close with Eagley Pike beating Royal Bolton Hospital 146-120 and Davies XI returning to form to beat Darcy Blues 166-116.

Eagley League organiser Doreen Perkin reports that some teams have played short, so anyone interested in playing should go down to Eagley Sports Complex for an 11.00 a.m. start, or ring Doreen (her number is in the Rounders Handbook).

The league is also looking for an additional referee.
