Farnworth and Eagley Winter Rounders League

AFTER a two-week enforced break because of waterlogged pitches, the Farnworth Winter Rounders League was back in action on Sunday.

Little Lever AFC failed to turn up so BYP Ladies A won by default and several of their players filled in for teams who were short.

The closest finish of the day was in the match where second-placed Adlington beat Applejax by nine runs.

Applejax had started the day in joint third place, but the defeat dropped them to fifth as Elton Vale and The Grapes both had comfortable wins.

The Grapes had a quick match against Little Lever CC, winning by an innings, and Elton Vale declared at 16 ahead of Dave's Minibus.

BYP Ladies B were nine runs up on Blades Barbers on the first innings and bettered their position in the second innings to win by 23 and swap places in the table with Blades.

Capital played with just nine players, despite recruiting two from BYP, but the more experienced side were always in command against Wallys Eleven - who are still without a win.

Thirty-six runs ahead at the interval, Capital went on to win the game by 68.

In the Eagley League, Craven, with only seven players, put in a great performance against Eagley Pike and lost by just ten runs.

Darcy Blues were also under strength against Divas, who declared when 19 runs ahead.

Four teams share the lead in the table on seven points, including Eagley Pike and Divas, but Divas have a game in hand as a result of missing the first week.

Also in the mix are Davies XI, who had a comfortable win over CBA XI, and Redgate Ladies, who had a similar convincing victory over Royal Bolton Hospital who are propping up the table.

Matches scheduled for December 2, were cancelled because of the weather and teams have been awarded one point each because the games will not be re-scheduled.

Both leagues now have a two-week break over the festive season and resume on Sunday, January 6.
