WINTER rounders returned to Harper Green with a number of teams forced to field depleted teams.

Adlington were worst affected by the player shortage in the Farnworth League and had just six players to face Little Lever AFC, who were one short.

Despite having the minimum number of personnel, Adlington performed remarkably well in the first innings.

After losing two of their six early in the game, the others put on a FINE performance to take their total to 67 and, despite the massive gaps in the field, restricted Little Lever AFC to 78.

Little Lever raised their game in the second innings and dismissed Adlington for 49, with five balls to spare, before going on to score 81 for a winning margin of 43 runs.

Adlington remain second in the table, but share the position with Elton Vale and The Grapes. Elton Vale took a 45-run lead in their first innings against Little Lever CC after dismissing the cricketers for 48 with three balls to spare. Although Little Lever went the distance in the second innings, Elton increased their lead to win by 115 runs, with nine rounders boosting their total.

The Grapes had a comfortable 53-run win over Wallys, but they will have to work on their bowling after giving away 15 bad balls in the first innings and 14 in the second.

BYP Ladies A lead the table by four points after their surprisingly narrow win over their B team. The A side were just one run ahead at 86-85 after the first innings, but despite scoring just 79 in the second innings, went on to win by 25.

Blades Barbers moved up a place to eighth after beating a depleted Capital side by 21 runs, the lead they created in the first innings. Both sides scored 63 in the second innings.

The remaining game saw Applejax winning by 20 runs against Dave's Minibus after being ten ahead on the first innings. The victory put Applejax in fifth place, two points behind the chasing trio, but six behind the league leaders.
