Mytham sink Lane to make flying start

MYTHAM Ladies won their first match of the new BSF rounders season in Section H against newly-promoted Hulton Lane Ladies.

Mytham led 98-66 at half-time, Lindsay Jackson top scoring with 21 runs.

They added a further 83 runs, 25 of them scored by Sharron Ramsell, leaving Hulton needing 116.

With 18 from Kelly Chester and 15 each from Claire Brady and Danielle Maher, they went close with 106 as Mytham ran out 181-172 winners.

Darcy Blues, promoted two divisions, marked their intentions in K Section with a 156-136 victory over Westhoughton Central. Levi Marsden, with 27 runs, and Jenna Ashton, with 22, were Darcy's top scorers.

In Section I, Prices led 89-77 at the interval, but had their second innings score reduced to 42, leaving Freedom Ladies needing just 54 to take the match.

Angela Bennett scored 18 and Sharon Entwistle 13, before Freedom declared on 90 to leave a final score of 167-131.

The Champion of Champions tournament was washed out on Sunday, and will be replayed on Sunday, April 27 at Walkden CC at 11am.
