TOP bowler Helen Yorke was the difference as Castle Building Services and Little Lever Cricket Club A played out a splendid game of rounders.
Six players from Little Lever fell without scoring in the first innings, and though Vicky Duncan and Michelle Halsey rallied the remaining players scoring 25 each to bring the score to 75, Castle replied with a very steady 92 runs.
In the second innings, Castle once again produced some excellent bowling and fielding and reduced Little Lever to 23 runs. Needing just six runs to win the match, Castle lost three players for no score which spurred Little Lever on, and they eventually dismissed Castle for 35 runs, to clinch an exciting game, 127-98.
St Joseph's Sports College are keeping in touch with Section A's favourites Darcy A and Rupert A with a win against Rupert Ladies B.
Trailing by four runs at half time, they then scored 114 and held Rupert to 66 in the second innings to win the match 201-157. Janet Grimes was their top scorer with 35 runs.
Dave's Minibus lost for the first time this season and with it went a chance to go top of L Section as New Inn recorded their first victory in the league 250-223. The game's top scorers were Jane Branno and N Omara with 41 each.
Astra held on to joint top spot of Section L with an innings defeat of Oracle Ladies.
The Lamb and Impression Ladies have equal points in Section H after fighting out a close match, eventually won 120-114 by The Lamb. Angela Bell was the Lamb's top scorer with 18 runs.
Duke of Wellington went to the top of Section O with an innings defeat of Little Lever Sports Club B. Sharon Readey 23 and Jeanne Crompton 21 were Wellington's top scorers in their 126(i)-90 win.
BB Belles will be pleased to have gone forward into the Second Round of The Matchwinners with a high-scoring win against Section A team Darcy Lever CC B.
Darcy put up a good fight, scoring 285 runs in their allotted time, Kath Mason scored 41 and Sharon Entwistle 33, Belles Melaine Adamson scored 22 and Tracey Robinson 26 in their 335-285 victory.
Lincoln, Section N, enjoyed a good win in the Matchwinners against Section K team GPM Ladies.
Belinda Rithwell 31 and Nicola Boardman 27 were Lincoln's top scorers in a convincing 256-208 win.
