LEIGH Centurions have signed their promising young utility player Dale Cunniffe on professional terms.

Cunniffe's promotion to the senior squad comes on the back of a couple of impressive first team performances and underlines coach Neil Kelly's willingness to give the club's younger players an opportunity to flourish at a higher level.

Cunniffe, who can player either centre or back row, made his senior debut at Dewsbury at the beginning of June and followed it up with an impressive run at centre against Celtic Crusaders.

Kelly is also pleased with the way Leigh have cleaned up their act since his appointment.

Now he's challenged the squad to keep their discipline for the rest of the season.

He wants to see his team steer clear of any further red cards and suspensions for the remainder of the campaign.

"We seem to have got over the indiscipline of the middle part of the season and I want us to continue the way we are now for the rest of the games."

Leigh are next back in action on Thursday, when they travel to second-placed Halifax in a match televised live on Sky.
