PITCHER problems saw the Bolton Robots of Doom lose both games against Manchester A last weekend.

The day started badly when Bruce Parker, who was already nursing a shoulder injury, could not pitch more than four balls and had to be replaced.

The Robots were already short of resources in this department and they had to dig deep into their reserves, throwing young Great Britain cadets Matt Moran and Tom Ball into the fray.

Manchester took advantage of the Robot’s lack of experienced pitching and even though they kept it close until the final innings, the first game was lost 17-7.

In the second match, James Newell took to the mound for only his second start, and while he pitched well, again the defence was unable to back up his effort as Manchester took a number of easy runs.

Only a late offensive surge from the Bolton men kept the game close and the final score saw the Robots lose 15-10.
