Farnworth SC Under-11s 174 Bradshaw Under-11s 309 (Brashaw win by 135 runs)

IT was easy to see why Bradshaw are unbeaten this season on the basis of this performance.

Their bowlers and fielders had a killer-instinct from the first ball while with the bat they were clinical putting shots away in gaps around the field.

For Social Circle, coach Tim Rees insisted it was back to the drawing board to work on the basics.

In fairness, it was not the worst performance from the Piggott Road side as the only drawback was losing so many wickets in their innings.

They were punished by the economical and predatory bowling.

Social Circle’s cause was not helped by the impressive wicketkeeper Luke Needham who was dangerous behind the stumps for Bradshaw.

The only time the hosts were above 200 was after the first over then Joe Cumberbatch took the wicket of Deelan Kara at the start of the second.

Another wicket soon followed when Harvey Barry was out after fine fielding by Cian Dickenson to leave Social Circle on 189.

After the first pairing the score was on 191 but the troubles at the crease continued when Taylor Biggar took the wicket of Charlie Gibson.

The accuracy of the bowling was clear to see and Social Circle could not get the ball away.

Dickenson had the home side in a spin by taking Gibson’s wicket in the next over thanks to a fine catch at mid-wicket from Daisy Mullen.

The pairing of Gibson and Samir Hayat weathered the storm as they kept their wicket in the final two overs of their spell.

The re-introduction of Cumberbatch paid dividends with a full toss hitting the stumps to get Joseph Ridings out.

In the next over, Luke Davenport took a fine catch off Danny Morris and Ryan Naylor was out.

The score was down to 166 with two wickets in an over for Biggar (Naylor out both times).

With four overs remaining Keane Mulligan and Dylan Halligan joined the fray and they took on the bowling attack and managed to get up to 179 after 14 overs.

Then Needham and Biggar pulled the game back in Bradshaw’s favour when Mulligan was stumped.

Mulligan restored some pride for Social Circle with the first boundary in the final over before he was out to Cumberbatch.

The highlights of the bowling were Biggar 4-5, Cumberbatch 3-6 and Morris 2-2.

In reply, Bradshaw’s opening pairing of Needham (five) and Cumberbatch (11) started brightly but were pegged back after two wickets from Hayat in the fourth over.

The next pairing of Mullen (19) and Davenport (17) kept the scoreboard ticking over with a flurry of six fours in their pairing and they looked to punish the bowlers.

It would have been worse but for Davenport being out trying to play a good ball by Barry.

With the score on 247, hopes of a Social Circle revival were short-lived as the next pairing of Lewis King and Biggar showed there is strength in batting all down their line-up.

King took the honours with the second highest score of the Bradshaw innings with 21 including three four, a two and five singles while Biggar added five.

The icing on the cake was put on by the final pairing of Dickenson and Morris.

Skipper Dickenson took some time to get settled but then wielded the bat well with a flurry of boundaries in the 14th over with two fours, a six and a single.

In the end he added 28 to the total and Morris added eight as Bradshaw closed on 309.

Hayat was the pick of the bowlers with 2-16.
