RADCLIFFE Old Boys A did not have a game at the weekend but remain two points clear at the top of Division One after their closest rivals Queen Lizzie and Moorside – joint second in the table – drew 1-1.

Justin Hughes scored Lizzie’s goal.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Astley Bridge lost 4-0 at home to Daten for whom Burrows, Shannon and Taylor were on target.

Turton Bay Mare enjoyed a 4-3 home win against Cheers Bar.

Andy Clarke scored two, and Dave Eatock and Stuart Williams netted one each for Turton while Earnshaw and Jackson scored for Cheers.

The three games in Division Two produced 21 goals, Radcliffe Old Boys B leading the way with a 6-3 home victory over Chorlton Sports. A DeLath hat-trick, a brace from Ian Newton and one from Hodgson secured the points with the visitors’ goals coming from Ian Taylor, Daniel Abucewicz and a Noel Coleman penalty.

PF Bury were on the wrong end of 5-3 beating at the hands of Mitchells Unicorn – Healey, Culf and Holly scoring for the Bury men.

The other game in Division Two saw Ainsworth A lose 3-1 at home to BLGC.

Reid scored Ainsworth’s goal, but Kevin Taylor, Jimmy Reynolds and Steve Basalya secured the points for BLGC.

Ainsworth’s B team fared better in Division Three, winning 6-4 at Whitefield.

Steve Coran (two), Daz Hanlon and Paul Vine-Jones scored for Whitefield, but Martin Hopkinson (two), Anthony Grimrod, Paul Kamall, Paul Roscoe and Mick Jeffers were on target for Ainsworth.

Another high scoring game saw Dobbies win 4-2 at Radcliffe Old Boys C.

C Allan and Ricky Heyes scored for the home side but two goals from Darren Kiely and one each from Anthony Healey and Darren Jackson secured victory for Dobbies.

Darren McCarthy and a Paul Scholes double gave Failsworth Home Guard their first points of the season as they beat Elton Liberals 3-1, Leroy Reid scoring the visitors’ consolation goal.

Broadway and Breightmet United fought out a 1-1 draw.

After a scoreless first half Brendan Morley scored for Broadway while Damien Smith was on the mark for the visitors.

Skelmersdale club Digmoor have joined the league in Division Two, taking the place vacated by Salford Reds.

Their first match will be at home to PF Bury on October 5.
