MEMBERS of a Bolton martial arts club have been getting their kicks for 25 years.

The Harwood Kempo Club was launched from Harwood Methodist Church in Tottington Road by club stalwart Elie Soudah and Chris Ward.

Although Lebanese-born Mr Soudah is still a key member, the running of the club was taken over by Andy McLellan.

The club has more than 30 members attending regularly.

“Kempo is a mixture of karate, judo, jiu jitsu and kick boxing,” explained Mr McLellan, aged 50.

“It’s an ideal for people who want to learn how to defend themselves.”

Club members from past and present went along to their recent session in Harwood to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

During the session chief instructor McLellan and John Feeney gave a demonstration on Kenjujitsu while founding members Chris Ward and Ellie Soudah were on hand to share past memories.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Mr McLellan on 07980 857259.
