ROB Jackson took the veterans over-45s prize at the Blackburn Road Runners' Winter Warmer 10k on Sunday.

The race attracted more than 500 runners who endured the foggy cold conditions and Horwich were well represented amongst the 239 runners in the junior Winter Warmer 2k race.

Matthew Flatters was fourth overall and first in the under-10s race in a time of 7mins 28secs, closely followed by Cian Healy in fifth and first u9 boy in 7:30.

Matthew Mair made it three in the top 10 when he was first u11 boy in 7:43. Finlay Reid had a good run to finish 14th in 8:12 whilst the girls were also highly competitive with Freya Whittle, narrowly pipped for second of nine girls in the u9 category in 8:42 and Lydia Johnson third of 25 in the u10 girls' category in 9:59.

This Saturday sees round five of the Mid Lancs Cross Country League at Blackpool with the Horwich senior men all out to defend their title in the top division of the North West's most prestigious league.
