LADYBRIDGE won the big promotion six-pointer 3-1 and local derby against their rivals and Lancashire Amateur Shield finalists CMB.

Sam Parkinson also had a goal disallowed for offside before CMB took the lead on 20 minutes when Danny Warburton fired home from inside the box.

Dave Walker’s side created chances and got their reward when Parkinson slotted past the keeper to make it 1-1 on 25 minutes.

Ladybridge took the lead on 50 minutes when Ross Ellison leapt highest to head home from a corner.

They sealed the points when Matty Woods volleyed home on 80 minutes after a couple of great blocks to earlier chances by the CMB defence.

The win takes Ladybridge to within touching distance of automatic promotion and leaves CMB’s chances of going up looking slim.

Elsewhere, Turton did their promotion hopes a world of good with a 4-2 win against Hawcoat Park.

The Thomasson Fold men started the game well and, after a couple of half-chances went begging, they deservedly took the lead in the fifth minute.

Matt Eckersley’s inswinging corner was flicked on by Adam Street for Danny Locke to score from close range.

They doubled their lead when a neat lay-off by Dylan Winstanley found leading goalscorer Kieran Sisson who fired into the bottom corner.

Hawcoat pulled one goal back before Danny Locke scored again.

The fourth goal followed soon after when Locke threaded the ball through to Kieran Sisson to slot home his 33rd of a productive season for the Turton striker.

It was a good weekend for Division One sides as Tempest United picked up all three points in a 1-0 win against Ambleside United.

Meanwhile, Bolton County were like the walking wounded with injuries taking the gloss off a 2-0 win against Lytham.

Mark Ormrod’s side are determined to stay in Division One and his players battled hard to secure the points late on.

Ally Dickson scored from the sport with eight minutes left and then Tom Helsby added a second.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Eagley were left ruing missed half-chances before they went down to a 1-0 defeat against Lostock St Gerards.
