ALL eyes may be on Kieran Sisson and his scoring exploits keeping Division One side Turton in promotion contention but it was a young striker that stole the headlines with a hat-trick in a 3-1 win against GSK Ulverston.

Dylan Winstanley set the ball rolling by rounding the goalkeeper to score after two minutes.

The Edgworth-based side nearly got a second when a tremendous 35-yard dipping effort from Sisson deceived the keeper but unfortunately bounced off the crossbar.

But Neil Johnson’s side did not have to wait long for the next goal when a through ball put Winstanley clear and he finished expertly across the keeper.

Both sides had a couple of half chances before Winstanley grabbed his hat-trick with his best goal of the game lashing in a right foot volley from 25 yards giving the keeper no chance.

There was still time for a GSK consolation goal from a superb header into the corner of the Turton net.

Johnson said: “It was another vital three points for us.

“This is Dylan’s first full season in open age football and he works ever so hard for the team and deserved his hat-trick.

“We have a very important 10 days coming up starting with the Hospital Cup tonight against a very strong Prestwich Heys side.

“We then play Poulton in the President’s Cup semi-final on Saturday followed by a tough local derby against Tempest.

“If we can come through these games with the right results it will set up up for a winner takes all promotion decider against Poulton on April 25.”

Iley was at it again when he created the penalty for Matty Carter to make it 3-0.

Meanwhile, Division Two side CMB warmed up for their re-arranged Lancashire Amateur Shield final with a 2-1 win against Todmorden.

The Chew Moor side created chance after chance in the first half but with some poor decision making ensured it was 0-0 at half time.

Meanwhile, there was late heartache for Eagley in their battle to stay in the top flight as Vickerstown scored in the dying minutes to earn a point in a 3-3 draw at Dunscar.

Simon Whaley, Jack Horan and Andy Lindley were on target.

Away from league matters, Ladybridge booked their place in the West Lancashire League Challenge Cup final after beating Division Two rivals Kendal County after winning 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out.

Dave Walker's side had it all to do as Kendal took the lead then Jordan Coope equalised from a free-kick but Kendal enjoyed a 2-1 lead at the break.
