BOLTON Under-13s finished their season on a disappointing note when they crashed out of the North West Cup with a 5-0 defeat at Tameside on Saturday.

The local lads were 4-0 down at half time in the quarter-final tie before battling back with a much-improved second-half performance.

With a number of players making their first appearance for the town team, Bolton struggled to cope with Tameside's physical advantage before the break.

Coach Andrew Jackson said: “We had three or four players making their debuts and it was a difficult game against a side with three or four six footers in it.

“The good thing was our lads never gave up and there was no complaining about the way the game was going.

“They stuck at it and handled them much better in the second half when we created a few chances.”
