SEDDONS and County Ladies won the two main Bolton Sports Federation Ladies Hockey League finals.

County edged Eagley Tornadoes 3-2 to clinch the Davenport Cup while Seddons' victory in the Steel Cup final was more conclusive.

They beat A Section champions Roydon A 7-4 in the 99th staging of the competition.

Seddons, who finished runners-up to Roydon in the league, were first on the scoresheet through Ann Truffas.

They then romped into a 4-0 lead with goals from Karen Hodkinson and two from Ali O’Donnell before Bernadette O’Hare and Louise Sparks pulled two back for Roydon.

O’Donnell completed her hat-trick to make it 5-2 at half time before the second-half goals were shared, Anna McClain grabbing Roydon's brace.

The Davenport Cup final, for the B Section teams, was a thriller with Seddons equalising twice before Tammy Gilford's late winner for County.

County, who finished fourth in the league, drew first blood against the B Section champions with an Emily Charleston goal.

Hannah Mather equalised almost instantly before Alison Howarth restored County’s lead before half time.

Becky Dunne again levelled the game and extra time looked likely despite both teams having chances at penalty corners, before Gilford had the final word.
