DARCY Lever, Lostock and Winton all recorded comfortable victories to progress to the quarter-final of the Cross Cup on Sunday.

Darcy Lever – Bolton Association’s bottom side – knocked out Golborne who are on a dismal run of form.

Jake Cooper led the way with the bat scoring 80 and Callum Waring (45no), James Hill (29) and Michael Norris (26) all chipped in as the hosts posted 224-6.

Johann Brohier top-scored for the visitors with 38 but the bowling attack of Scott Burns (2-43), Dominic Gavin (3-17) and Andrew Patel (3-17) proved too hot to hand and they were dismissed for 156.

Peter Flanagan and Simon Hanson inspired Lostock to their second win in as many days against third-placed Swinton Moorside.

Captain Jonathan Herreran scored 63 and Chris Norvall hit 67, before brother Matt Norvall added 39no to post a customary high score of 216-9. Tom Sheen was the most notable bowler taking 3-33.

And fresh from taking the last-minute winning wicket against Standish on Saturday, Hanson (82no) formed a 199-run partnership with the in-form Flanagan (94) to respond with the loss of only three wickets – of which Brad Palmer took 2-35.

Winton secured their place in the next round of the cup with a 63-run win at home to Westleigh.

The opening duo of Kyle Humphrys (51) and Andrew Walker (36) set a good early pace before Michael Seenan entered the crease and grabbed his half-century (53).

Will Driver added 31 late on, before Matthew Talbot (35no) got in on the action to post 238-6.

Tom Pemberton hit 35 in reply but he had little support and his side resided on 173-8 as the overs

expired.

The quarter-finals are due to take place on June 21 and the fixtures are: Lostock versus Blackrod, Walshaw against Bury, Adlington at home to Winton and Darcy Lever travel to Flixton.
