JONATHAN Greening believes his old boss Gary Megson will have a score to settle when West Brom come to the Reebok on Saturday.
The well-documented bad blood between the Wanderers boss and Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace adds spice to the Premier League encounter, in which both clubs will be looking to bounce back from midweek Carling Cup defeats.
Megson was sacked by Peace in 2004 after a high-profile dispute and is still not on good terms with his former boss.
“He’s going to wind his players up because he had a fall out with Jeremy Peace – there’s no love lost there,” Greening said. “We have to be prepared for that and try and put a good performance in to try and win.”
Megson signed Greening from Middlesbrough during his time in the Midlands and tried to link up with him again at the Reebok last month, offering Abdoulaye Meite in a straight swap deal that was eventually refused.
And although Greening concedes the Wanderers boss is not held in the highest regard by some factions within the Hawthorns, he is looking forward to making his acquaintance once again.
“I got on well with Mego,” he said. “I know a few people had problems with him but I thought he was okay.
“I know there’s a few players who don’t have a kind word to say about him, but it’ll be nice to see him and hopefully take three points.”
