Holcombe stunned by Hill juniors

Holcombe Brook A suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Markland Hill A.
Jonathan Shacklady, Jamie Grimshaw, Sade Olijade and Olivia Brown all won, but it was the halved set taken by Sam Gannon and Dan Keenan that was critical in giving Markland Hill victory by the narrowest of margins over the Junior Division One runaway leaders.
Second-bottom Lostock A won their crucial relegation battle against Holcombe Brook B, the most notable performances coming from Jessica Nutter and Jaquira Henry who won all their sets.
The key match in Division Two saw Bellingham, who now need one win from their remaining two matches to secure the title, crush their nearest rivals Hawkshaw A 11-1. At the other end of the table, Markland Hill B and Hawkshaw B both lost to seal their fates in the relegation places.
A surprising defeat for Holcombe Brook C handed the Division Three title to St Joseph’s A, while Bradshaw B finished top of Division Five.
Division Four’s David Lloyd Manchester, who had a 52-game start, beat Bellingham, from Division Two, 77-69 in the Howarth Cup final.
