League leaders Hilton B march on at top

HILTON B look to be unbeatable on the top of the Premier Division.

They won 7-2 at Wharton which gives them a 14-point advantage over Ramsbottom A in second spot, although the Rammy team have played one match less.

Bottom team Heaton A recorded their first win of the season 5-4 against Burning Desire A, with two wins by John Scowcroft and Matt Ward, plus one by Steve Barber, but they are still six points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Little Lever B scored a 7-2 win over Burning Desire B which included three wins by Roy Costello, and Hilton A ran out 8-1 winners against Radcliffe CC with trebles by Dave Pickard and Ron Pennington, and two wins by Mark Gibson.

Nomads A scored a 9-0 win at Little Lever D to regain the top spot in Division One, giving them a one-point advantage over Heaton B who won 7-2 at Ramsbottom B and remain third in the table.

The Heaton win featured trebles by Top Ten leader Craig Johnson and Paul Ward. Siful Khan and Lee Davenport each scored three wins for Hilton C in their 7-2 win over Tonge B, but previously they went down 6-3 to Wingates for whom John Bradbury was unbeaten.

Craig Bradbury trebled for Ladybridge A, who beat Hilton D 7-2, and Little Lever C won 8-1 at Nomads B, with three wins by Ric Simmons and Paul Tatlock, plus two by Chris Sutcliffe.

Heaton D are invincible on the top of Division Two. They took maximum points from bottom team Hilton H.

They are now 19 points ahead of Meadowbank who also scored maximum points against Ladybridge B. Heaton E in third spot won 7-2 at Hilton G which featured a treble by Alan Ingerson. Paul McCormick marked his return to competitive play with three wins for Heaton C, but his team were beaten 5-4 by Meadow Hill A.

John Dodd trebled for BEN A, as did Mike Dunn for Heaton F whose teams both scored 5-4 wins against Hilton F and Hilton E respectively.

Division Three leaders Ramsbottom C, with a match in hand, moved one point ahead of Withins A in second spot following their 8-1 win over Irlam.

The win featured trebles by Derek Edwards and Graham Brooks. Withins won 7-2 at Farnworth with three wins by Ben Dudley and two apiece by Debbie Wilson and Lloyd Eaton. Brian Carter and Alan Entwistle trebled for Hilton I who beat their J team 8-1, as did Steven Hall and Stuart McCaig for Tonge C who won at BEN B by the same score.

Three wins by John Pilkington and two by Andy Cafferky gave St Thomas their 5-4 win over Hilton K.

Top Division Four team Monton BC won 7-2 at Heaton H, which included three wins by Dave Waite while Hilton M in second spot scored an 8-1 win over a depleted Lads Club team.

Little Lever E scraped home 5-4 against the Lads Club thanks to three wins by Martin Archer, and Eugene Mutebwa scored a treble for Brass who lost 6-3 to Hilton L.

Ladybridge C who are third in the table with matches in hand took maximum points from Hilton N.
