Arena attracts best young talent

BOLTON Arena will be welcoming some of Britain's best young tennis players this week at the third British Tour tournament of 2008.

Among the competitors on show in the men's event will be Lancashire's Chris Llewellyn and Simon Roberts, and the number one seed from Cheshire, Matt Bright.

The top two seeds in the women's event will be the world number 692 from South Wales, Olivia Scarfi, and Sussex's Lucy Warburton.

Peter Greatorex, British Tour Manager, said: "I believe that the British Tour plays an important role in the development of juniors and their transition to the senior professional circuit.

"It has proved over many years to be an important stepping stone for up and coming players and a good place for them to hone their skills against often older and more experienced opponents.

"I encourage all tennis fans in Bolton to come down and watch the tournament as it provides a great opportunity to see first-hand the next generation of British tennis players."

The men's and women's main draws begin on Wednesday with the finals being played on Saturday. Admission is free and all spectators are welcome.
