BOLTON County's hopes of picking up their first win of the season were dashed in added time against local rivals Tempest United.

It was a first half battle with not much quality in the game and both teams were guilty of constantly giving ball away and there were a couple of half chances for both sides but nothing to show at 0-0.

In the second half, it was more of the same until poor defending gave Tom Aspen tapped the home side into a 1-0 lead.

County's tails were up and 10 minutes later Linford Stewart showed good feet to turn Tom Halligan and fire them further ahead at 2-0.

Tempest changed their formation to 3-4-3 and it paid off as they started come back into it.

Liam Stewart hit the post with a header and Matty Carter hit bar off a Sean Rothwell corner.

County started sitting back with the hope of trying to hit the Chew Moor side on break but Liam Stewart bagged his 13 goal in 11 games against his old club.

With 10 minutes left, Tempest were trailing 2-1 and they pushed for an equaliser.

In the dying minutes Tom Halligan scored off a Sean Rothwell corner.

Assistant coach Gary Westhead said: "We could of won it in last seconed off another corner.

"All in all it turned into a decent point after way we played for 80 minutes.

"We showed good character to comeback.

"It gives us four wins and a draw out of last five in all competitions and we go into Lancashire Shield quarter-final against Monton in decent form."

In the same league, Turton's tie with Hawcoat Park was called off due to a water-logged pitch.

The same fate affected Division Two sides when CMB's game with Kendal County and Stoneclough's trip to Barrow Wanderers were also off.

But Phil Roberts manager of the Chew Moor outfit insists they are excited about entertaining Longridge in the Lancashire Shield quarter-final this week.

He said: "We are looking forward to the challenge against one of the best teams in the West Lancs League.

"They're in a position I expect us to be in over the next few years.

"With everyone available and fit I believe we can beat anyone on our day."

On the league front, Ladybridge extended their lead at the top of Division Two with a valuable 5-3 win at home to Croston.

Dave Walker's side started slowly and had to make an early change when Ant Hough was on the receiving end of a bad challenge and club officials were disappointed no card was shown.

But Croston were reduced to 10 men when their centre midfielder made a wreckless challenge.

Ladybridge took the lead five minutes later when Harry Brazel was on hand to slot home on the back post.

Croston then pulled themselves back into the game after the Lostock side took their foot off the gas scoring two goals in quick succession.

Ladybridge equalised from a corner when a Croston player turned into his own net on the verge of half-time.

Into the second half Ladybridge made the extra man count controlling possession.

The third goal came when Ross Ellison headed home from a Whiteside corner, the 4th quickly followed when Danny Edmondson played the ball to Benson Johnson who smashed the ball home from 20 yards.

Ladybridge now well on top added a fifth through a great individual goal from Harry Brazel who drilled the ball into the roof of the net after a good run.

Things went from bad to worse for Croston as they were reduced to nine men after another lunge but managed to get a consolation in the dying moments.

Manager Dave Walker said: "We weren't at our best today but showed we can grind out a result and keep our heads when Croston wanted to turn the game into a kicking match.

"It's not very often the referee's get praise but the ref had to deal with some vey bad challenges and dealt with them well."
