EAGLEY did their top-flight survival prospects no harm with a dogged 3-1 victory against Euxton Villa at the weekend.

The Dunscar side started brightly and had the ball cleared off the line before player manager Simon Whaley curled a free-kick into the back of the net.

Ashton loanee Danny Vincent played a superb through-ball for Jack Horan to make it 2-0 before Villa reduced the arrears with a deflected shot.

Whaley was given his marching orders on the hour for his second yellow card, but his struggling side dug deep and secured victory in the final few minutes through a Horan penalty.

The win moved the Eagles out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Turton are doing their best to join them in the Premier Division and kept themselves in the promotion race with a comfortable 4-0 win against Wyre Villa.

The Thomason Fold side were on top from the start and finally made their superiority count in the 29th minute when an unmarked Adam Street headed in Dylan Winstanley's inswinging corner.

It took until the 69th minute for Turton to double their advantage when Kieran Sisson grabbed his first of a quick-fire hat-trick.

Sisson added his second five minutes later from the penalty spot and racked up his 26th goal of the season in the final minute.

Manager Neil Hart said: "It was great to pick up three points after disappointing draws in the last two weeks.

"If we had been more clinical the margin of victory could have been greater.

"That said, scoring four and keeping a clean sheet is very pleasing."

Liam Stewart put an under-strength Tempest United side in front at Hurst Green, but the home side levelled before the break and went on to win 4-1 after scoring three goals in the final 25 minutes.

Bolton County took the lead at Fulwood Amateurs just before the break through a Curtis Monson strike and remained in front until the final 20 minutes, when the home side rattled in three goals. Tom Axon-Smith reduced the arrears for County in stoppage time but they went down 3-2.

Division Two leaders Ladybridge stayed on course for promotion with a 3-0 win against Todmorden Borough.

Ant Hough drilled in a low shot from the edge of the box to put Dave Walker's side in front and Matty Woods doubled their lead after smashing in the ball on the turn.

Wood's through ball found Gary Whiteside who lobbed the onrushing keeper to make it three.

Meanwhile, two goals in as many minutes at the start of the second half saw CMB lose out to Milnthorpe Corinthians.
