THE Bolton at Home Sunday League are hoping for another bumper crowd on Sunday when the Macron Stadium hosts the league's Open Cup final.

In a re-run of last year’s final, which was watched by more than 700 spectators, Farnworth United will meet Queen Anne.

Farnworth won that game 4-2 after extra time and another close-fought match is anticipated.

Bolton Sunday League secretary Carl Cover said: “Last year we had 700 people attend, which was magnificent for a Sunday League match.

"We want another carnival atmosphere this time. Even if you’re not involved in the Sunday League currently, this is a great opportunity for a family day out and to watch a game in a first-class stadium.”

Jon Lord, chief executive of league sponsors Bolton at Home, said: “Our partnership with the Sunday League aims to increase participation in local amateur sport and we’re keen to support the league as it seeks to expand to three divisions.

"Events like Sunday’s cup final are a great advert for local football and can inspire people, especially youngsters, to take part.”

Kick-off is 2pm with admission £4, tickets available on the day from the Macron Stadium and children and over-60s admitted for free.
