EDGWORTH increased the gap at the top of the table to 25 points with a comfortable victory against second-placed Walshaw.

The top two went head-to-head knowing the winner would rise to the summit of the Bolton Association.

Walshaw started well with Darren Foy scoring 42 and Nick Murphy hitting 30. But up stepped the bowling attack of Josh Fallows (4-38) and David Gornall (3-31) to bowl them all out for 175.

The early pace-setters wasted no time in replying – Brett Ernst scoring 65. The target was reached with the loss of only five wickets – three of which fell to the bowling of Steven Holt (3-53).

Bury remain in third-place after securing a two-wicket victory against Little Hulton.

Half-century’s for Darren Mullineux (64) and Shaukat Patel (54) posted a healthy total of 215-8 for the Old Vicarage outfit. Neil Tong (3-49) and Ashen Silva (3-66) impressed with the ball.

Sri Lankan Silva turned his hand to the bat and struck 83 not out and was backed up by Mohammed Janghir (45) as they reached the target with two wickets to spare, despite the impressive bowling of Mark Penney (3-60).
