WANDERERS appear to have lost out on full-back Ryan Taylor after he trained with Hull City this week.

Neil Lennon had offered the former Newcastle United defender a chance to come to the Macron Stadium earlier in the summer.

That contract remains on the table but the 30-year-old Liverpudlian had kept his options open and after interest from Nottingham Forest and Belgian outfit Standard Liege, he has now linked up with Steve Bruce’s side with a view to a permanent move.

Lennon has been trying to plug a gap on the right side of his defence for months but Taylor’s decision could mean good news for trialist Lawrie Wilson.

The former Charlton Athletic man has played twice for the Whites in pre-season and is expected to make a third start at Scunthorpe United tonight.

Meanwhile, Everton’s Luke Garbutt – another player who has attracted interest from Wanderers this summer – is reportedly on the verge of joining Fulham.

Several Championship clubs were alerted to the England Under-21 full-back when Roberto Martinez made it known he would be sending him out to gain some experience this season.

But with left-back Dean Moxey gaining Lennon’s favour in pre-season, it is understood Wanderers never officially made an offer to the Blues for Garbutt’s services.
