GARY Madine is a doubt for tomorrow’s clash with QPR after picking up a foot injury in training this week.

The Wanderers striker, who scored his first Bolton goal in the 2-2 draw against Brighton last weekend, will travel to Loftus Road and has not been completely ruled out.

But Neil Lennon revealed yesterday he may have to make a change up front, with Emile Heskey back in the frame after a hamstring injury.

“We’re going to look at Gary tomorrow and see how his foot is,” said the Whites boss. “But I’m quite optimistic that Emile will be ready because the problem was not as serious as we first thought when he did it at Huddersfield the other week.”

Madine has missed just one game this season, sitting out the 3-0 defeat against Middlesbrough after falling ill on the day of the game.

On the plus side, Dorian Dervite could make a surprise return after an ankle injury that was sustained in training at Euxton during the last international break.

The French defender has not featured since being sent off in the 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers 35 days ago and was expected to return to duty after the forthcoming international break.

Max Clayton and David Wheater have also emerged unscathed after returning from long-term injury against Brighton.

Clayton had not featured in nine months because of a serious knee injury and while Lennon will take no chances with the 21-year-old he hinted he would be in line for a second successive start at Loftus Road.

“Considering how long Max had been out for he came through it all remarkably well,” he said. “It was a fantastic effort to get through 83 minutes (against Brighton) and I think that’s testament to the hard work and the rehabilitation he has done. We’re delighted he came through unscathed.

“We’ll see how he is today because training has been fairly light since Saturday and we’ll step things up a little before the game.

“But I was very pleased with him, he gave us something extra.”

Lennon is pleased to have a couple of selection problems going into the QPR game after suffering so badly in the past with injuries.

“It’s a rarity for me since I’ve been here but the squad is looking a little bit stronger now, so that’s a big bonus for me.”
