BREIGHTMET United salvaged a point five minutes from time in a 1-1 draw with Chadderton in the Manchester Football League Division One.

Manager Paul Roberts felt a disappointed that his side could not get more from a game that they controlled the game from start to finish.

He said: "We did really well and dominated the first half and played the football we have produced all season.

"But our main problem was that we struggled to get the goals.

"We put them a lot of pressure but couldn't score.

"I told the players to keep on going at half-time.

"We dominated the second half again and because we were looking to score that left us stretched at the back.

"Chadderton caused us a few problems on the break and they won a penalty when Sam Howarth brought their striker down and they scored."

Despite conceding with 15 minutes left on the clock, Roberts believed they would have got nothing out of the game.

He said: "We continued to keep going and then Osman Karacan went through the middle and a brilliant move involving Tom Williams paid off.

"The ball was pulled back to Jason Brookes who scored.

"I was disappointed that the way we played we did not get a victory but to come back from being 1-0 down after 75 minutes was an achievement.

"I thought we would not have had anything to show for our efforts.

"The good thing is that we are still second and it is really tight at the top and all the sides are taking points off each other."
