BOLTON Under-17s maintained their 100 per cent record this season with a 17-0 win against Sedgley Park.

The Cherry and Whites took the lead early on when quick hands found Adam Hackin on the right wing who outpaced the defence for an unconverted try in the corner.

Sedgley Park responded strongly but strong defence from Will French and Matthew Chowdhury saw Bolton win the put in at the scrum.

Hackin, Will Hinchcliffe and Seth Fairclough made in-roads into the Sedgley half before Bolton scored their second try.

Sedgley infringed at the breakdown and as the ball went down the line Rohan Patel saw his chance, weaving his way through the defence from 50m out for a fantastic score in the corner.

In the second half, Hinchcliffe once again won the lineout and Tom Evans delivered the perfect ball to David Price who cut back blind and hit a perfect grubber kick down the line.

The Avenue Street men won the lineout and Seth Fairclough, Jonny Wallis and Paddy Hargreaves were involved in some powerful running which led to a Bolton penalty.

Despite all the pressure Sedgley Park were able to keep Bolton out and eventually won a clearing penalty themselves.

It wasn’t until the final minutes of the game however before the Bolton forwards won the ball against the head in the scrum with Morgan Skeels-Caldwell and Eddie Southcombe driving magnificently.

The ball went beautifully from Tom Evans to David Price to Hackin who fed Rohan Patel at full sprint to go in for his second try.

David Price converted to seal the win.

Elsewhere, an under-strength u15s side travelled to Eccles for the first BlackSticks Blue League match and came away with a 38-26 win.

After a powerful start by the Bolton pack, centre Dom Hardy was under the posts in less than two minutes and skipper Jos Winstanley, added the extras to give Bolton a 7-0 lead.

Joe Brooks claimed a brace of tries and Bolton were in control.

Jake Ryan's explosive pace and power finished off a dominant period of pressure that saw Bolton lead 24-0 at half time.

The visitors couldn't quite finish this game off though and Eccles came back at Bolton scoring four tries and converting three.

That did not affect Bolton's resolve as Brooks scored his third try of the match and then Hardy touched down for his second try.

Also celebrating were the u14s who picked up their first win of the season defeating Blackburn 22-5.

Solid tackling by Harry Moxham, Oliver Lambert, Bailey Howlin and Marcus Crompton kept Blackburn out and it was 0-0 at the break.

Isaac Prescott burst through a couple of weak tackles, rounded the full back and crashed over the line for the opening score to Bolton.

This shook Blackburn into action and a lovely flowing move saw an immediate response.

That score galvanised the Bolton side and Owen Critchlow, Prescott and Callam McGaughey rounded off a superb display to see Bolton home by 22-5.

Mention must go to the half backs, Jack Phillips and Robert Harris who both controlled the game superbly and Luke Bagnall who just kept going and going. Every player from 1 to 22 played their part in a huge team effort.
