A BOLTON non-league football club believe their latest make-over marks a fresh dawn at the New Sirs.

Daisy Hill Football club moved onto their current site in Westhoughton and the clubhouse was built to cater for the senior football team.

However, over the years the facilities became dilapidated with broken tiles, and shower heads among the issues as time took its toll.

After a cash-injection from the Big Lottery Awards 4 all grants for the Bolton Community and Voluntary Services and also using some club believe it is an exciting time for the club.

In the Summer the work was completed ready for the new season.

Club secretary Bob Naylor said: "We are all proud of how the refurbishment looks and it means we can look forward to playing at the ground and showering at the facilities.

"This is us building for the future and I don't think it will need to be changed for a long time.

"It also makes us attractive in terms of bringing players in.

"Also each year we are required to see ground-grading to ensure we are satisfying certain standards to play at North West Counties League level

"We are very grateful to the help from Yusuf Atcha and Osman Hassan from Bolton Council Sport and Active Living Services for trying to help with the funding. "

At present the senior teams and the under-15s are now taking advantage of touch censored showers.

More recently Westhoughton Lions Rugby seniors team are also using the facility.

It is hoped that these new refurbishment will cater for many young people involved with Daisy Hill Football Club for many year to come.

Councillor David Chadwick said: “It is great to see money invested in the local community keeping grassroots football accessible.

"Daisy Hill has a long heritage in Westhoughton which I’m sure will continue with this great partnership between Bolton Council and Daisy Hill FC."
