STEVEN Robinson has a giant-killing in mind when he arrives at the Macron tomorrow.

The Oldham Athletic boss hopes the Latics’ run of stubborn away form continues against a side he believes are head and shoulders above the others in League One.

Robinson is wary of a Bolton team who possess an unmistakable aerial threat in the likes of Mark Beevers, David Wheater, Gary Madine and Jamie Proctor.

But the former Northern Ireland international coach has urged Oldham to stand tall as they look to make it three wins on the spin.

“They have got some big players and Phil Parkinson will certainly have them well-organised,” he said. “We know that with their size and physical presence they will be dangerous at set plays and that is something that we have worked on.

“I believe they are the biggest club in the division and if you look at the players they have available on the bench and not just in the starting team, it’s clear they have an excellent squad.

“They have won their last two games so I am sure they will be confident. But we have done that as well and there is no shortage of confidence on our part.

“It’s a tough game but one the players are looking forward to. We travel with no fear at all.”

Oldham have already beaten Bury and Gillingham away from Boundary Park this season and boast an enviable record on the road.

Since August last year the Latics have lost just six of 29 away games in the league – and though many have been draws, Phil Parkinson has been careful to emphasise to his players this week that the side ranked 21st in the table are no pushovers.

Robinson finds it hard to explain why his hard-working side have been more consistent away from home – but with a large contingent of fans expected to make a short trip to Bolton, he wants to send them back to Oldham in a better mood.

“I don’t think many of the fans have seen the team at its best recently,” he said. “We have played well at home at times this season, as against Walsall. But people are understandably influenced by results. It would be nice to show what I am sure will be a large number of our fans at Bolton how we played at Charlton, Fleetwood and Gillingham.”

Oldham will give former Liverpool winger Ryan Flynn every chance to prove his fitness after he failed to train this week because of a calf problem.

Robinson can bolster his defence with the return of defenders Cameron Dummigan and Ryan McLaughlin from international duty with Northern Ireland and could hand a start to on-loan Crystal Palace striker Freddie Ladapo, who scored the winner against Gillingham last time out.
